Anime Review: Noragami
NORAGAMI
“Yato, a minor god, dreams to become the most revered deity in the world with big shrine and all. However, being a penniless god that he is, he has a long way to go and his shinki leaving him doesn’t help matter. Later, when he does his job, a high school girl named Hiyori Iki pushes him out of the way of a speeding bus; unaware of his status as deity.
Things get complicated when this incident triggers abnormality in Hiyori’s soul, causing her to make an Astral Projection whenever she falls unconscious. To turn herself back to normal, Hiyori must help Yato becoming a better god who can fix the problem, along with Yato’s new shinki, Yukine.”
This anime was released this year. It has 12 episodes which is a pity. Such a good anime should have more episodes. This anime ended just like any other anime. Giving room for a possible season 2 but may never ever happen. If you like, I believe the manga is still ongoing. I personally have not read the manga so I have no idea what is going on there.
The anime starts quite fast, giving you an idea of what the entire anime is all about. I loved the art. Beautiful character, amazing quality on the background and awesome facial expressions.
The chemistry between Hiyori and Yato was really good. The supporting cast was also very well done. Kofuku, Daikoku, Nora, Kazuma etc. Amazing job! Yukine was kind of a pain in the arse in this anime. Always creating trouble for Yato. But he is a teenage boy, what do you expect?
While the series deals with some pretty dark and depressing subject matter at times, there's a good mix of humor and light heart-ed moments. The balance between comedy and darkness is good. find myself laughing out loud to the humor. It's really funny. They have really funny and interesting scenes. There are also some sword fighting scenes and battling the phantoms etc. Really great action I would say.
The series has a great story line and potentially prove to be quite entertaining. It is easy to say that Noragami is one of those series that is easy to recommend to most. The ending really will make fans want more, but I don't believe it gives closure to viewers. ARGH!
Adios Amigos ~
