Final day: city of angels

To cut it short, Budda> hello kitty house>hotel>home

Woke up in the morning feeling real sleepy. Jiayin and prinky wanted to pray. So we had to skip breakfast and head to the shrine?? There is a lady who let's you release birds in a ring cage for 400 baht. I believe it's for good fortune and prosperity.

Soon after, we walked towards siam square 1 to visit the hello kitty house. The house was all in pink and whites. There was a massive amount of people when the cafe just opened. The cakes looked so pretty but you know what they say "looks can be deceiving". Sadly, they didn't serve any sandwiches on that day and we had to eat the phad thai & fried rice which was rolled into sushis.

The hello kitty strawberry milk was really good. The cakes were bad (rainbow crepe and strawberry shortcake). The sushis were really tasty. :) as a place for chill, this place would be ideal. But for lunch, it is definitely not.

I also met up with the ladies at the hello kitty cafe. Though short, at least I got to chat them up :) I was rushing to check out at 12. We were all in the same country but in different regions I would say. Hehe managed to snap some shots with them. Yay!!

We headed to the hotel to rest and charge my dying iPhone. Took a cab to the airport, ate some Japanese cuisine.

Soon after, home sweet home <3

DAY 4: City Of Angels

Today is the fourth day. I'll be heading back tomorrow. This post is updated as at 27th sept 2014; 11:28pm.

Breakfast as usual provided by the hotel.

After our breakfast, we headed straight to jj market to continue our shopping and exploring. We managed to find the pet section. Not only did we see all kinda of domesticated pets but I even bought a harness for my little boy. The domestic pets sold at jj market aren't what you usually see in Singapore. I've seen snakes, dung beetles, squirrels, tortoises (giant and small), chickens, ducks, puppies, hamsters (Syrian & winter whites & robovskis), birds (all kinds), owls, lobsters (mini), fishes, eels and even hedge hogs and some kind of lizard; I believe it was an iguana?

It was really sad to see all these animals caged together. In one cage, there were more than a dozens animals. They were cramped together and some of them weren't even well groomed. for the puppies, only some were well groomed. The poor ducks had their feathers or wings sticking out of the cages. The environment wasn't friendly at all! I really feel for these animals. If I can buy them all, I would. Even in Bangkok, there are stray dogs all around. And the traffic is crazy here; I would not be surprised if the dogs got hit down by the vehicles.

I managed to take some photographs but some of the shop keepers have a no photography sign up on display with shop keepers on duty to stop people like me from taking photos :( I did not manage to take a photo of the tortoises, snakes and owls.

Here are the photos: <there may be some animals that I forgot to mention. Do forgive me>

Other than animals, they were selling gourmet bugs? Haha. Cooked ones of course. Crickets, maggots, meal worms and so on.

Clothes were next. The heat was really extreme. The sun was at it's peak and I was dehydrated.

Exploring, spending and getting burnt by the sun. The next pit stop was MBK mall. Jiayin and prinky wanted to get Thailand snacks ~

What's next? Time to rest!!!! Back to the hotel and Chinatown at night. The food was really good and that place was insanely crowded. We ate some fried rice, crab & glass noodles, fried squid with salted egg, king prawns, stir fry morning glory and tom yum soup. For dessert, we had a 300 baht bird's nest. Haha it doesn't sound as great as it tastes but it was really good.

I was stuffed after eating all 6 dishes + 1 dessert. To end the day off, we headed to tesco (Bangkok's supermarket) to get snacks.

And this is the best yogurt drink ever :)

Byeee. Turning in now ~~~

Day 3: City of angels

I am so tired to update my blog ~ but I shall!! Due to the time differences, the dates that appear on my blog is actually incorrect. Day 3 is a Friday and it is the 26th of September.

Yesterday the air conditioning in our hotel room was down. When we returned, it was all good. But all of the sudden, it was getting warmer and warmer. Tired and exhausted we had to switch rooms. We switched from the 14th floor to the 15th floor. Our stuff were all over the place and by stuff I mean clothes, make up, toiletries, water bottles and what ever so ever.

Finally was in bed at about 1 in the morning.

When you sleep late, you will of course wake up late or at least have some form of difficulty in waking up early. And the Air conditioning in the new room was freezing ~ I just wanted to laze in bed.

Today's breakfast provided by the hotel is .....

That's large plate of vegetables huh? Well, it feeds 3 people! Don't get me wrong ~ hehe

After breakfast, we waited for the chartered tuktuk by the hotel. But the tuktuk took forever to get back to the hotel since it was serving another group of guests. We hired a public one and bargained for a cheaper rate.

First stop platinum. To change whatever we could because the sizes weren't great. Bought a few clothes here and there.

We took a break at black canyon coffee for a break. To drink some coffee and rest our feet.

After platinum, we went to khrung tong plaza. I may have gotten the spelling wrong. Please forgive me

It has a lot of plus size clothing. Trendy and fashionable? Well, I guess some of them are. The shorts sold there were pretty comfy though I believe I should have gotten another size bigger. Oh well?

Lunch was at krung tong plaza as well. Check it out (below)

Awesome phad Thai noodles with oyster omelette and tom yum soup. It was a great lunch ~ shopping seems never enough when you are in Bangkok.

soon affer, we headed to the BTS station and made our way to mo chit? We had to changed trains though. We took a long and I mean really long walk to the train station. It was so pretty warm and almost killing me ~ but I survived

We were heading to jj market. We had a misunderstanding that it opened in evening but it actually opens at 9? Friday is wholesale and on sat & sun they are open for 24/7. From mo chit, you can walk to this weekend market. The place is so big. At the timing we went, most stores weren't open yet. We did manage to buy some stuff along the way though; awesome graphic tees for 150 baht. The graphic tees in the picture below are really good.

However, we did stop to have a foot and shoulder massage.

We will probably be heading there tomorrow in the morning since most of the stores weren't open today. Sadly, it might be slightly more expensive as it is today.

Cab back to the hotel and ordered room service. I wasn't really feeling well and therefore, the plan to Chinatown was cancelled. I don't know if I ate something bad, but I felt so full.

I can't wait to see the animals that they are selling at the jj market. This time we have a map. I hope it will help though.

Alright good night blog buddies. Time for me to turn in. 😴😴😴

Day 2: city of angels

Updated as at 11:18 pm, 25th sept 2014 (Bangkok time)

It's the second day of this holiday. I woke up feeling really cold. I was so reluctant to wash up since the room was practically freezing. Even while I'm showering, I still can feel how chilly it was.

Breakfast is provided by Bangkok city hotel. I think I forgot to mention that I am staying at this hotel? I am not too sure. Please bare with my absentminded-ness. Breakfast is buffet styled with a wide selection from noodles, rice, porridge, salads, cereals and bread as well.

After our heavy breakfast, off we go to raid platinum mall. I really wished we took the tuktuk but we took public transport this time. I guess I really wasn't up to walking.

We had to change trains and so on. On our way to platinum mall, a foreigner stopped me and asked if I could help him snap a photo of him. I passed it on to Jiayin to take the photo. All of the sudden, he wanted to take a photo with me and Jiayin. I tried to play dumb but he still insists I joined. Do you think he thinks that we are Thai? There must be a reason why he wanted to take a photo with us isn't it?

My first buy was hair accessories. This shop was amazing. It had all the cute accessories and there was a really nice, helpful and good looking sales assistant.

Please don't mind the monster face. She is much prettier in real life. Plus she is so nice. Haha typical tourist alert.

What's for lunch? Well, we headed to the food court upstairs. This food court requires you to purchase a store value card to buy your food and drinks. After you are done, you can get a refund of the remaining cash inside. Awesome concept but tiring to get the card & get a refund once we are done. The pictures above is what we had for lunch! :)

After lunch, we went shopping yet again.

There are 3 zones in platinum. zone 1 and 2 are in the same mall. To go to zone 2, we has to head to level 2 and take the skyline connector to the next building.

Cutesy chocolate at platinum that I bought for 380 baht. Rubber ducky, piglet and a penguin? Come on man, that's fucking awesome.

After we got tired, we went for some refreshments at the food court again. Had mango sticky rice and some Belgium waffles <3 this was before we headed to zone 3 though.

Starbucks here is way much cheaper as well. It costs 100 plus baht for a beverage?!!! You freaking kidding me.

Resting after walking for hours. My leg was killing me man.

Loot for day 2. I was quite disappointed though, some of the tops are of wrong sizing. My shoulder are way too wide :( so out of all, 5 of them weren't up to my expectations. The thing here is that we can't try the clothing.

After resting our exhausted bodies and trying on our loots, we headed out in search for a place that we can get a massage. We found one near our hotel. And it costs 200 baht for a foot massage for an hour. I didn't managed to take photos because of how dark it was and I don't have a professional camera.

In the end, we were given a full body massage. We did not need to strip and it wasn't as painful as the ones I tried before. The lady was quite friendly too. It was as though she was sparring with me; mix martial arts style. Climbing and locking my legs etc. It felt good though. I was half enjoying and half in pain. Some parts were painful but not that painful.

After we finished, she kept saying how beautiful I was. Initially, I thought she meant to say beautiful out of courtesy or politeness. But she kept saying it and I ended up being embarrassed. She was so small sized and she had so much power. Haha awesome :) affordable and good massage. If we head there tomorrow, I promise to take photos.

Late night supper comes next.

Tata ~ tomorrow is gonna be yet another long day!!

Day 1: city of angels

This is my first trip out of the country that involves me flying in an aeroplane. I was told by my mother that we went to Australia and New Zealand when I was really small, but that's the thing; I don't remember anything about those trips. So this is considered one of my firsts.

According to a website, Bangkok is also known as the city of angels. "Thailand’s capital city has the distinction of owning a number of different names. In addition to the internationally known name of Bangkok, there is also the local name ofKrung Thep (City of Angels) which is a shortened version of the official Thai name of Krung Thep Maha Nakhon."

Our flight departed at 8 in the morning and we reached at around 10 something. But since Bangkok is an hour behind Singapore. I sort of travelled back in time if you get what I mean. My companions for this trip are Jiayin and prinky.

We have booked the flight with tiger airways which is a budget airlines. With budget airlines, the seats are not very accommodating and there is limited space (leg room etc). It's quite difficult to sleep in the plane thanks to the lack of space. I woke up countless times due to have this cake in my neck for sleeping in an awkward position.

After checking in, we had to take a bus to the plane. I managed to buy the fragrances I wanted and my mom's. Although the other brand she wanted is no longer retailing in the duty free store. I bought Victoria secret fragrances. the first one is the bombshell in bloom and the other is tease. Coco Chanel for my dearest mother.

This is a bad photograph but I wasn't allowed to open it until I reached Bangkok. And as of right now, I do not even want to open it.

We had to take the train to our hotel. First time in Bangkok's train. But one tiring factor is that switching trains requires tapping out and purchasing a new token/ticket.

First picture depicts the token and the second is the ticket.

Thank god I have friends who are experience travellers to the city of angels. That's why it was such a breeze for me. Of course I feel bad that I wasn't any help.

After arriving at our station, we had to walk quite a distance to our hotel. The rain totally did not help. My slippers were drenched and my feet were stinky.

Soon after, we checked in and here are some photographs of the hotel room.

We paid quite a reasonable price for this room. And the Tuktuk under the hotel is really cheap (80 baht). If you get one outside of the hotel, it will probably cost more. Bargaining is easier thanks to prinky excellent language versatility. :)

We went to have lunch at MBK. Steamboat for lunch. The tom yum soup was really spicy. I can't really take spicy food. I have very little tolerance. I drank about 3-4 glasses of tea?

After our scrumptious meal, we went looking for naraya. I had to get those cute tissue cases. Continuing Window shopping ~

We went exploring Siam square etc. I'm sorry, my memory fails me here. But we will be exploring more places the next day.

Dinner was at some street stall. I ate authentic phad Thai noodles. But it wasn't as great as I thought it was.

Blah blah. And buying snacks along the way, I'm back at the hotel updating my blog.

Everything here is practically pretty much more affordable as compared to Singapore. Take for instance coffee bean, for a caramel latte medium sized it costs 120 Thai baht. If you do math, you'll know how much it is. Second example, Garrett's popcorn is considered a premium kind of popcorn in singapore. In Bangkok, for a medium sized bag of specially made popcorn; it's just 360 Thai  baht. Wow!! Huge difference in pricing.

I'll be turning in soon. Gonna go crazy at platinum mall tomorrow after breakfast. Wish me luck in finding all the good and trendy apparels :>

Good night blog buddies ~ updated as at 24 sept 11pm bkk timing
