Update: Nik's Maple Clinic (Yishun branch)

Hey there,

It's been a long time since I visited the clinic. Probably a month or two, could even be three? I've been really busy with school and I could not find the time to head down. Today, I finally decided to head down to get it checked out. By it, I meant my acne of course.

It has gotten much better compared to the first time I visited. Almost all of it has cleared up, but I do still have some acne scars and redness. I do have a couple of pimples left!

I got there pretty late, 5pm! And the doctor was about to head off for his dinner, I didn't not know that 5pm was their dinner time. But travelling down from thomson and the traffic was really really bad. Lucky enough, the doctor was kind enough to see me and prolong his break a little longer.

I was prescribed different medication this time. But I am still using the acne clearing gel and clindagel. The glycol 10 that I am using has now changed to glycol 12. I was prescribed a golden lipid complex which was why the bill was so friggin expensive. & instead of Stieva A, I got the Retacynl 0.025% this time.

Doc said to return in 4 weeks time and it was time for chemical peeling. Be gone acne =) WOOOHOOOO

VeganBurg and Sunday folks

Throwback to yesterday, blog buddies! Met up with the ladies Eli and mira for some cafe hop hop hopping!

we have been wanting to try veganburg for awhile now. The nearest train station to veganburg is enous train station. And this fast food joint is pretty much a 5 min walk from the train station. If you walk real fast, you'll probably reach there in 2-3 mins. Before I visited veganburg, I truly thought this place was a restaurant but instead it was a vegan fast food restaurant.

This is a picture of their tables and it's made out of recycled materials. Real environment savvy huh.

I ordered the shrooms burger. I kind of forget the exact name but damn this burger was tasty. Maybe it was because I was having a flu that I did not enjoy it as much but I would love to go back there. They had no soft drinks, just juice. For sides, you have a choice of seaweed fries or broccoli. I would have chosen broccoli but I wanted to see if their fries could match up with the ones from MacDonalds.

Next stop, Sunday folks. To get to Sunday folks, the nearest train station is Holland village. And I Believe you have to take the exit that brings you to chip bees garden. That's if my memory serves me right.

Sunday folks was packed with people. 5 people were already in the line before us. Being a newbie, we didn't know how to join the queue. We found out we had to take a queue number from a iPad or machine. It's quite cool. Input your number and name, you'll be sent via SMS your queue number and that a message stating they will contact you via phone call when your table is ready.

Once you're seated, you'll be given a menu. After deciding what you want, you have to go to the counter to make an order.

We ordered a chocolate cake ($7.90) and it was surprisingly not bad tasting. You can get your own water from this gold bird dispenser! Utensils are also self collected ~

We were told our waffles will take approximately 40 mins to be served. We ordered the pistachio, sea salt gula melaka and earl gray lavender. Maybe we should have stuck to the classic vanilla!

The waffles were so good. Really worth the $11.80 and it's very filling. The waffles are crispy on the outside and soft & fluffy on the inside. The chocolate syrup, blueberries, strawberries and hazelnuts really complemented the waffles.

The ice cream were the soft served kind. Kind of like the ones that were sold in 7-11 a long time ago.

Perfect day out!! I'm completely broke now but I love the food ~

Movie Review: Dracula untold

Hi blog buddies,

Today I have watched two movies, sort of a movie marathon but I am not gonna do a review about the other movie.

The movies I watched today were Annabelle and Dracula untold.

Here's Dracula untold, a new series of 2014. There have been so many movies out there about Dracula with their own rendition of Dracula. This movie shows a very devoted family man who is known as the impaler as he impales his enemies on spears like they are some kebabs.

In order to save his family, he makes the ultimate sacrifice. Drink dracula's blood and resist the temptation of drinking human blood for three days or drink human blood and become Dracula for all of eternity.

It was quite predictable for me as to why he didn't manage to resist the temptation for three days which seems like quite an easy task. His wife was the main driving factor of course.

This movie is extremely short and I wished it was a little longer. I guess it was kind of rushed. Become Dracula, war, win and the end. But come on, how can resist such a good looking Dracula. Luke Evans took my breathe away. Such a good looking individual and he did not fail to deliver. Great actor!

Romance, a little gore and lots of action. Not quite a bad movie. I'll rate this movie a 4/5.

Universal studios: horror nights 4

Hi blog buddies, I just got home from a awesome night at universal studios. That's right, I went for Halloween horror nights ~

I already went last year on the 2th of November. It was probably the second last day and the crowd was definitely more than the crowd of today's.

Since now is already past midnight, by today I meant 4th November. My horror buddies for the day are Elisca, Cassandra, Wei Tian and Clement.

We decided to meet up for a quick dinner and head over to queue. Surprisingly when we got there, the queue was not as bad as last year's. In fact, we thought the entrance was located elsewhere since there wasn't much people to begin with. Last year, we ran to the haunted houses but this year running was not even necessary.

This year's theme is demoncracy. Do correct me if I got it wrong. The opening act was exactly like what was on the trailer, the minister of evil greeting us live on stage.

As usual, we all were let in a little earlier (it starts at 7.30pm). There is a holding area with a huge stage in the center where all patrons will gather and wait to for the Halloween horror nights to commence. With loud music and lights, it gets your heart pumping and all excited for what's coming.

The haunted houses and scare zones are at the same locations as last year's. Maybe 1-2 slightly different but it wasn't much of a difference.

Last year, there were 3 haunted houses and scare zones. This year, there are 4 haunted house and scare zones.

Another surprising thing was that there were a lot of kids this time. Some with their friends and some with their parents. Wow!

Quoted from RWS website, "From city centres to schools and army barracks, demons will be awakened, clowns and fairy tales will turn loony, and urban legends will come alive. Guests will have nowhere to hide as the Minister of Evil unleashes ‘Demoncracy’..."

The haunted houses of the fourth season are jack's 3-dementia, mati camp, jing's revenge and the L.A.B.

My overall thoughts are that these haunted houses aren't that scary. But the best of all would be jack's 3 dementia which is based on killer clowns etc.. We were given 3D glasses and the whole experience with the colours and the lighting were out of this world. The killer clowns were in bright neon colours (masks, costumes) and the glasses made it like as though we were in some sort of creepy carnival. There was one part where we had to cross a bridge that was spinning and the background was spinning along with it. This part really got to me; I was so dizzy that I had to hold onto the railings. It is probably due to the glasses man, whole new experience. I'll rate this particular haunted house a 4/5.

The scare zones weren't that scary this year. It was more like a selfie zone where everyone was stopping these "demons" to take pictures. But maybe that is the purpose of these scare zones right? Haha oh well.

We finished everything including the day rides about 12? We managed to catch the performance as well.

if you just want to have a fun time to scream and laugh with your buddies, this is the place to visit. Students get it at 50 bucks per pax. You can get all these information on their website.

Tips for first timers: do get a map before entering. This will give you a upper hand as you can plan your route and know which are the must see attractions and highlights. Also, be there by 6-6.30 because you'll be able to enter soon after.

NOM - Bistro & Bakery

NOM which stands for no other meaning has a Facebook page which enables you to check if they will be open or reserved for a private booking. They are very popular for parties and private events. The last time I was there, it was booked for a kid's birthday party.

You can check out their customised cakes on their Facebook page. They also have an Instagram page and Twitter page; @noothermeaning

After taking the trouble to head down to the café and being disappointed, I gave a direct message to NOM through Facebook asking if they were open to public today. And I received an almost immediate response.

I've been dying to try out this café just around my house. It isn't that near but still near enough. I heard that their rainbow cakes are too die for. The cakes comes in 3 flavours; chocolate, salted caramel and Oreo. However, the cakes available today are Oreo and salted caramel.

Their menu is quite extensive. From soups, salads, thin crust pizzas, mains and to all-day breakfasts. There is even a weekend brunch set. Do take note of the timing though.

The pizza was really yummy. Even the ice blended drinks were really good. The names were so interesting. Vanilla pops, coffee pops and so on.

I tried the ultimate nom burger which was totally delicious. It was a pity that the shepherd's pie and churros weren't available. The burger was tasty, the patty was grilled nicely with a little tint of redness.

We also ordered the Ham & Cheese pizza. All their pizzas are thin crust. You must make sure to eat this hot. The mozzarella cheese will make your eyes go gaga. It was like a pizza hut commercial playing live.

I would really love to go back and try more of their food. The atmosphere was quiet even though there were heaps of people. One issue though, I believe that they have a lack of staff. There weren't enough waiters and waitresses to go around. There was just one waitress who had to serve the food, take orders. One cashier who also sends food over time to time.

From the moment we stepped into NOM, I did not know if it was self serviced or not. Because we weren't given the menu and there were lots of people at the cashier. After about 5-7 minutes, we were then given the menu.

Now for the awaited rainbow cake. I tried the oero flavoured one. The colours were vibrant. Probably one of the prettiest and most photogenic one around. However, it didn't taste as good as it looks. It really is an attractive piece of cake, but it just wasn't to my liking. I guess it was the Oreo cream? The cake wasn't dense but it was a little dry. After finishing this lovely cake, I was so thirsty.  But I have to agree that it is much more tastier than the other rainbow cakes around.

My overall rating for this café is a 4/5.
