Sasha appreciation day

First things first, Sasha is a dachshund and also my family's dog. For those of you who do not know what a dachshund is, she's the one in black. She's a little too tiny to be a standard dachshund, so we guessed she must be a miniature. The man whom we got her from claims she's a standard but she's way too small. And right beside her is my boy, Luka!

Today's her first birthday! We gave her some fish and an egg yolk as a treat. She gobbled it up in seconds, way faster than Luka did. Luka prefers meat while Sasha prefers fish. To be honest, she pretty much eats every damn thing.

Sasha is the more affectionate dog. Greeting you when you come home, kissing you all over kind of dog. When it's almost time for bed, she begs for kisses. Always poking me while i'm resting on my bed.

Fact to everyone, we did not toilet train out dogs. They just naturally knew where to pee? This proves that they are really smart creatures/animals. hehe though there have been accidents but in no time, they knew where to pee.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY BABY GIRL! ♥

Bunion surgey day: 50

50 days since I did my surgery. Let's do an update. Still see some bleeding and plasma. The wound is not completely healed yet as you can see especially the one on the top. It was leaking so much plasma, so I cleaned it up with some alcohol and then I saw my flesh!!! My raw fucking flesh!!! It hurts when I walk too much but it is really difficult to not walk as much. Because I have to walk to school and walk to my classes. Every class is at a different location.

Also, definitely there is going to be a scar. It's quite pigmented at the moment. Once it's healed, I might want to use bio-oil to help lighten the scar or something.

Mid week

Argh the horror! It's in between the school week and i'm already at my limit. I have so many projects and getting in the same group with someone that is not capable to do work or have the right interpersonal skills to communicate is bad.

The worst case for me? I got the same person for 3 freaking groups. I really don't want to be in the same group as her. Firstly, she has bad interpersonal skills and cannot work well with others. Long story short, she's an alien. Secondly, her english is pretty bad and editing her work is gonna be hell. Lastly, there's something about her that just puts me off.

Other than my horrible project groupings, I guess i've been coping well enough. My school schedule isn't really ideal but it'll do. I just hope that the next 3 project grouping, I would not get her again. Every single time she hears that she's in the same group as me, she shouts, "yes!". Bitch, it's only one sided. So fuck off! When it comes to project work, I'm very serious. The report has to be of quality and done fast. I hate people who do not contribute. As of right now, she hasn't really thought of anything useful.

I'm probably going to be more straight forward from now on. I won't spare her feelings because project is project. Don't give me crappy work because I will tell you off. Don't ask me how to do your part because it is your part.

Ps. project grouping are random. I have the worst luck this semester.

Bunion Surgery: Day 43

Today is my doct appointment. The only scap left was the center of the wound and the most problematic. Since it was bleeding just yesterday. Guess what the doctor did? Seen from the first picture, he soaked the antiseptic solution on the remaining scab. I thought he would just clean it, but he took off the damn scab!!! oh yes he did. He used the cotton ball to rub it off once the scab got all soft and hell, it really hurt. After that, he paste this plaster on it. He did say i'm healing well, he said there were no issues with the "blood". He didn't really address it other than saying that there was no blood at the moment. He also mentioned that I should continue doing the exercises that he asked me to do.

I really wished this would have healed before school starts but the school week starts this monday. I guess I would not be completely healed yet.

Bunion surgery: day 42

Oh no, woke up and the scabs were gone. I believe the blanket or I did something when I was asleep to remove it. You can see the scars already, it isn't as smooth as i thought it would be. The scar closer to my toe has a hole, please refer to the picture. Maybe that's why I felt a little discomfort and pain while walking. Bruising around the area is still present.

After walking today, came home to find blood on the bandage and plasters :( what's going on?

Bunion surgery: Day 41

No scab! But this part was the least of my problems. No pain or anything there! You can see the scar though :(

Honestly, it has been awhile hasn't it? 41 days since the surgery. Okay, i mentioned awhile back that the doctor said it was okay to wear slippers and normal shoes right? He was so wrong. I wrapped a bandage around my feet with surgical plasters beneath to protect my feet from the friction. Despite my efforts, friction won. Plasma or at least what I thought it was. It was some brownish yellowish colour looking liquid.

What's worst?! i'm starting school on this coming monday. I'll probably still be in a bandaged state. I am not sure if it is all part of the healing process, i'll get clarification this coming thursday which i believe is the last of my follow up appointments.

There's  still bruising if you notice. Which hurts obviously ~

I hope all is good and I'll be better in no time. I can't wait to go back to the gym and exercise. Even running seems like a dream right now!

23 Jumpin

23 Jumpin is a cafe that is situated in a pretty deserted area. You wouldn't expect a row of other food establishments along with it. It's a less than 5 minute walk from Taiseng Train station. Since I live very near to the area, finding this place was a piece of cake.

This cafe offers a variety of awesome dishes ranging from brunch, pastas and even waffle pizzas. The interior design of the cafe is very simple with a few paintings on the wall and wooden table and chairs.

Take a look at the menu!

My only beef with this cafe is probably the tables and chairs. You can see in this photograph that the holes in table. If you don't place your utensils well, it's going to fall off the table. Beware! Also, the chair being made the exact same way isn't very comfortable. The cafe looks good though!

Okay, check out the spread we ordered. The egg benedict is a dish that I heard was pretty awesome. Well, it definitely lived up to my expectations. My sissy ordered the creamy mushroom and bacon pasta; which was not bad too. Although the latte art wasn't great but matcha latte was really good and tasty. Lastly, the mushroom pizza waffle definitely something new to me. The cheese and the mushroom complimented each other really well.

overall, 23 jumpin is definitely worth the visit. The best seats are definitely the only one with a yellow cushioned two-seater sofa (it sits 4 people in total but 2 lucky people get the cushion)? it's near the door, you wouldn't miss it! If you manage to get that seat, yay! The food here is pretty good, no complains from me. Like i said, my only beef with the place is the level of comfort.

Address: 1 Irving Place, #01-25, The Commerze
Singapore 369546 (nearest train station is taiseng)

Movie Review: The Longest Ride

The movie i'm reviewing today is in the title of this post. It's based on a Nicholas Sparks Novel, same like The Notebook and Dear John (if I got that right). The main reason why I wanted to watch this so badly. Not forgetting, Britt Robertson and Scott Robertson was such a good couple on set. But the whole movie isn't based on one love story but two.

There were scenes that left me teary eyed but The Notebook is still the best yet. I think the only really moving and interesting part of the movie was the love story between Ira and Ruth. They withstand so many ups and downs; the war, even though Ira was left sterile due to an infection from a gunshot wound. Especially since Ruth loves children and wants a big family. She left at one point of time but she came back! AW. The fact of how Ira is such a romantic man. Even though he had ruth with him, he still wrote letters to her everyday.

Britt and Scott's romance wasn't as moving or out of the ordinary. In life, couples will have different interests and different career paths. Sophia's (Britt) interest was art while Scott's (Luke) is his ever so dangerous bull riding career. Hey, it's only my point of view. No hating! As I was saying, their romance wasn't really great but i'm not saying it's not good. In a general, the movie is still enjoyable. If I was in Sophia's (Britt Robertson) shoes, i'll be really uneasy everytime my boyfriend went for another bull ride competition. I mean, you'll never know whether he will finish it unharmed. The bulls are unpredictable and pretty scary. Luke has had his setbacks with bull riding; injuries and his health.

In short, this movie did not give me the same effect the Notebook did, but I guess it's worth the watch. Do bring popcorn, the movie is definitely a long ride of 128 mins.  I'll rate this movie about, 3.5/5.

Bunion surgery: day 35

As you can see, it's healing pretty well. I still can't feel the top of my toe. And my toe is still relatively swollen. Been doing the exercises the doctor asked me to a few times a day. Walking feels normal but I still feel slight pain every now and then. I don't really know how to describe the sensation I feel when I walk but it's still probably be awhile before returning to normal.

School's starting soon, I hope I'll be all good by then.

Side track a little, been playing Pokemon Alpha Sapphire these few days’ man. It’s insane that I’ve completed the game and have no idea what to do now. Oh well? I’m going to catch the longest ride tomorrow, it better be good.

Bunion surgery: day 32

Okay this is how it looks right now. Update: the black stuff will drop in about 2 weeks’ time according to what the doctor said during my last appointment. I can see bits of it peeling off actually. I can shower as per normal but I will have to quickly pat dry my wounds.

I also use this to wash the operation site twice a day instead of using the alcohol swabs because it's gentler. The swab is like a piece of wet tissue paper, so it feels a little rough to the skin.

Yesterday, I wore the boot and it hurts so much. Like a sharp pain every time I took a step. I have no idea why. And today, I felt it too.

Fix Cafe

Hi blog buddies,

It's been awhile since I last saw Eli and Mira, we have decided to give Fix Cafe a try. And it's halal! Great for my dear Mira. *laughs. This cafe is definitely the kind of place that is great for chilling. Although it isn't air conditioned, being situated next to the pool makes up for it. It was quite cooling and not too hot. Of course, it could get pretty warm as well. So, it depends on your luck pretty much.

The concept is pretty cool. The menus are already on the table, so once you have decided, just make your way to order. I heard that the cakes are better tasting. Sadly, I did not manage to eat the cake. I was stuffed once I was done with the Penne. *** i wished they made the menus slightly bigger**

Check out the spread we ordered. The 3 cheese Penne Gratin, i'll say i expected it to be much more chessier. If you know what I mean! The cheese is pretty much on the top, the insides aren't as cheesey. The Naanwich definitely an interesting idea there, pretty popular too I must say.

The doughnuts with the salted egg dip. The salted egg dip reminds me of the Liu sha Pao. But it wasn't as nice as I thought it to be, same goes for the churros. The doughnuts is fluffy and soft, the right consistency for a doughnut. It would have been much better if it has fillings instead of a dip.

The next time round i'm there, i'll definitely order the cakes ^^

Overall rating, 3.5/5 for fix cafe.

Getting there:
We took a bus at Toa Payoh Interchange, bus 139. Alight 4 stops after boarding and walk to the cafe. During the journey, you would pass HomeTeamNs. Keep at look out and you won't miss it.
