STUPID ASS SCH
Well well, look at how long since
I’ve last posted. I’ve been really busy with exams and finally I’m having my
short break before my internship.
Internship in my school is sooo
bad. I shan’t mention which school but it’s one of the 5 polytechnics in
Singapore. Unlike many other polytechnics whom students interns for 6 months,
my internship period is only 10 weeks!
What’s gonna happen after that 10
weeks? Free labour in school! We’re either going to be allocated at Cheers, a
merchandise store or the call centre. Yay. That’s only part 1 of what I’m going
to be doing after the 10 weeks of my internship. Part 2 is the financial
trading centre where independent trading of stocks and FX takes place. Not
forgetting, the reports and projects we’d have to hand in.
That aside, how did my school actually mess
up my internship?? Let’s start with giving me false hope and wrong information.
The school has told the few interns in a particular xxxxxx that we’re allocated
to this branch and our job scope are as follows. I was really looking forward
to the job post I was allocated. Sadly after signing the letter of appointment,
the job scope and location in the contract was different from what I was
notified from my internship mentor (IM).
The firm checked and confirmed that what was
stated in the contract was definite. This means that the school gave us
interns-to-be the wrong information. My friends were affected as well of
course.
After my location has been changed, and I
notified my IM. My IM changes and messes the log book signature and all the
other related matters. To be frank, I didn’t really like the IM I was assigned
to initially. Unlike the other IMs she did not even give me her personal contact
number, I had to call her office every now and then to inform her of any
arising issues or information. Thank god, I got reassigned then.
For the “new” job scope and branch I’m
allocated to, I’m happy to be located near my BFF. But my job scope is really
shit. I hate it so much but I don’t think I’ll learn anything or get the
relevant experience I’ll need in the future.
All in all, I’m gonna start my internship
with an open mind and heart. Take whatever’s coming and enjoy my 10 weeks =)
