Review | Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation
Hi blog
buddies,
Another review that has been past overdue. This is a product has been in stores for some time. And I was a tad too late to discover this product. You see, my skin condition has all along been oily. But after I started using my medication from Niks', it became more to dry to combi skin. My skin has returned to being oily. Therefore, I made it my life mission to find a product that can provide me with a matte finish. Especially since Singapore is not the best country to be wearing makeup that isn't matte or sweat proof at least. Singapore has always been humid, and has only two seasons; all time summer and monsoon.
Back to the review, I couldn't find the product in any of the drug stores anymore. I contacted the customer service center of both stores to enquire about the availability of the product, and sadly the status of the product is currently unavailable . That's where I started searching for alternatives means of purchasing the product; online and going malaysia.
So, i made a trip to JB (Johor Bahru) and got it for RM 29.90 i think. I can't remember the price exactly, but the exchange rate is pretty good right now. Hence, a perfect time to purchase this product.
As you can see from the picture above, this is how it looks like when I first opened it. Sadly, the mousse got all messed up from inside the packaging. If not, the mousse will be as smooth as how its depicted in the first picture at the top of this post.
About this product, I did hear good and bad reviews. Either they love it or hate it, literally. My personal take for this product is great. I am quite in love with this product. It is definitely a product that best suited for combination to oily skin. For dry skin, the foundation will appear patchy and really drying. That is why, when my skin is really dry due to my medication, i always avoid using this product.
The shades are a little confusing. For the liquid mousse foundation, I'm in the shade natural beige. But for this foundation, my shade is light 4 Nude. That's weird. I tested it out, and natural beige in the dream matte mousse is way too dark for me.
Break down:
- Oil control: It's good for about 4 hours tops. After which, my T-zone tends to get shiny. Of course, staying matte for 4 hours is definitely a god sent in Singapore's humidity. On good days (where it is not as warm), 4 -5 hours. On bad days, 2-3 hours. For maximum oil control, definitely top it off with a powder to set the foundation.
- Longevity: it lasts till I get home. So, i'll say pretty well. It does rub off when I go to the gym though. Expected, since it's not sweat-proof. But it does a decent job.
- Coverage: Medium to full coverage. It depends on how you apply the product. With your fingers, full coverage. Brush, medium to full (ideal way to apply. just push your brush about 2-3 times and you're good to go). Sponge, light to medium coverage.
- buildability:**note: do not apply too much, or the foundation may look grainy on your skin.
I do recommend using a mattifying primer for maximum oil control in addition to a powder. When my skin does not have any dry patches, i will use this foundation. If my skin has dry patches, I'll use my Maybelline Fit me Matte + poreless foundation (reviewing soon).
All in all, this product is great. I give it, 4/5.
That's all for now, signing off,
XOXO ♥

You might want to try this mattify powder to see if it really helps to mattify your skin! There's plenty reviews about. You can go take a look :)
