Gold Coast Day 2
Movie
world
We
got up real early today. Only to realise we were actually the late ones.
Taking a glimpse towards the beach, almost everyone is up and going. Cycling,
jogging and even working out at the exercise corner. It's just 6am and the sun
is already out. It is really bright out.
After
having breakfast, we headed out to find the bus station. We had some
difficulties in locating it. We then took the bus Tx2 to movie world. Google
maps states that it would at least take 39 minutes but we actually arrived in
15? Well, one suggestion friends. Do not rely entirely on Google maps.
We
arrived at 9am. Way before the counters actually were open. We had to wait for
a good thirty minutes but it was worth the wait.
We
got our tickets and entered the theme park. As we bought our tickets through a
promotion from Experienceoz. We paid $110 for wet n wild, movieworld and seaworld + a bonus Australian outback performance. Any ways, you can get a map at
the gantry.
I
recommend heading to be at the park @ 10. Most of the rides were still going
through dry runs before they were officially opened.
The superman ride was fairly
good. The waiting time wasn't too bad and the thrill factor, not bad either. I
love the drop after the incline. Maximum satisfaction ~
The green lantern roller coaster
was the most surprising. We thought it to be a kiddy ride but instead,
"wait.. Why are we going sideways? What, we're upside down!"
The
joker's playground is awesome. Best roller coaster out of the few. You have to
remove any loose items. It's kind of like of the cyclone back at universal
studios Singapore but way better!!! There's even an observatory for people to
watch the coaster ride.
There
are many characters out and about. My favourite was batman, the flash, Wonder
Woman and green lantern. Well, you got to admit that batman is pretty
hot.
In between the rides, we had lunch at Gotham city cafe. It serves real good burgers and chunky fries. We got to souvenir bottomless sippers at a discount as an add on to our meals. It's free refills all day with the sipper. We heard that you could even get refills at sea world with them (as long as you recharge it at 8 dollars). A burger and fries would cost ya about $AUD 14-15. To get the sipper, the total damage would be about 24-25 dollars.
At the cafe, we got the
customized dog tags. When I first saw it, I knew I had to get it. The tag on
its own would be $5. We got the kit, it cost us $10. I got the batman and
superman dog tags.
I
also bought two awesome posters, a batman mousepad and a sunshade for my
mother's car.
Back to the rides,
scooby doo was pretty lame. Don't waste your time on it. Justice league was
pretty cool. You have a laser gun and can shoot objects to accumulate points at
the end of the ride.
Tips for movie world
- Rent the locker at
Main Street. It's 10 dollars for the entire day and you can take out your stuff
in and out. Only do so, if you do not want to carry your stuff around.
- Rental of lockers
near superman is 2 dollars for an hour. So this could be a cheaper
alternative as only the superman
ride, you can't have any items on you at all. The rest of the rides, you are
allowed to put your stuff at small stationed areas at the respective
rides.
- I mentioned that, you
should consider being there at 10- 10.30am. Setup time for the rides eat pretty
much into the enjoyment time. So you might as well be able to ride them when it's
ready.
- Bring more $$ if
you're a superhero fan like I am. You will definitely be unable to resist the temptation to purchase their merchandise.
Australian
outback
It's
really close to movie world. We walked over after we left movie world. Upon
getting your tickets and entering, you'll be given a cowboy hat. Either blue or
red, which just classifies everyone in the section they are allocated at.
There was a 3 course meal. Pumpkin soup, steak and apple pie. Drinks are wine, beer,
lemonade or water.
The
performance should not be missed. It's really good. You get to see horses and
stunt riders. ATV riders. Acrobats. Cows. Dogs. They created the show in a way
that it depicts a storyline. There was also pre-show
performances at the bar. The singer was singing country songs.
No photography is allowed once the show begins. So, do take note. It may blind the performers or startle the animals. So do not be an irresponsible visitor.
Cab
incident
Do
not take cabs in Australia. Period. The meter runs per second. Even when the
car is stationary, we are being charged. Every second adds on about 10 cents.
God.
The
cab driver even short changed us by 2 bucks. He was on the phone the entire
time. And when we asked which place was nearer, he couldn't give us an answer.
And ended up sending us to one of the mentioned places instead..
